Expedition 20 Soyuz Commander Roman Romanenko and Flight Engineers Frank De Winne of the European Space Agency and Bob Thirsk of the Canadian Space Agency were greeted by station Commander Gennady Padalka and Flight Engineers Mike Barratt of NASA and Koichi Wakata of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency May 29, 2009. Their arrival expands the number of residents on the complex from three to six crew members. The hatch opening also marked the first time all five partner agencies have been represented by crew members at the same time. Less

For those who do not know of this man type in Dr Jonathan Reed in youtube and watch the most outstanding account of alien human interaction in modern history. Aug 26, 2009 - The reason why the walls are tainted this way is not a matter of color but of material.

Jun 3, 2009 - Good comment and good idea/So the module is relatively old.Hm..looks like old soviet submarine.
Punkdoggy800 Каза:
Jun 1, 2009 - Yeah, they should retouh this, even though this isn't really the "mean" hatch the US shuttles dock at Nod 2 or 3, which is a lot brighter and open
mduncan36 Каза:
Jun 1, 2009 - Yes, the Soyuz vehicles have to dock at the Russian modules.

May 31, 2009 - I believe this is Russian module. If you watch the tour to ISS, other modules look better, white and quite brighlty lit.

May 31, 2009 - Would be so awesome if they painted the walls of that "room" bright white color (like this Youtube page) and some blue contrast (like the usernames). It would seem a lot more futuristic... That place seems, uh.... Depressing? Oh well I guess they have a reason for the colors, anyway, great job guys.

May 30, 2009 - you see, there's no politicians in space...
snoopyloopy Каза:
May 30, 2009 - indeed. i believe that if there were collaboration between entities here on earth (as opposed to the current system of we have a right to space while others don't), we could have much more progress in space exploration and general technology to bring space closer and more affordable.

May 29, 2009 - Can't the world do the same on land as they do in space? After all here we have Russia and USA happily together in space. I really wish we could translate the same friendship down here.
HordeFTL Каза:
May 29, 2009 - Yeah that's correct I believe, I remember a few weeks back they had to evacuate due to a collision but it ended up being a false alarm, better safe than sorry however.
goodguy20k Каза:
May 29, 2009 - Nope, it stays open. The Soyuz modules act as "Lifeboats", in case the crew has to evacuate the station. Much like having a door shut (and locked) when there's a fire inside your house, it delays you from escaping. Since there is no reason to keep this hatch closed, it stays open.At least, I believe it stays open. I can be corrected if I'm wrong. ;-)
